AN AFFAIR OF THE HEART {PART-3}

                            CHAPTER-3

                                                               THE CONFESSION

WRITTEN BY- ANUSHA CHAUHAN

Sarita writes, "Didi, it is very painful for me to leave him. Didi, I will always remember him and you.

Didi, please promise me to not to ask about the boy if we meet again. I will never tell anyone who he is. Here, only one of my friend knows about him.

Didi, his love and feelings were so pure that he has never asked me to meet alone even once. Only before going back, he met me once. And that too I asked him to come and meet me so that I can tell him my feelings before we part our ways forever.

Didi, our love story is so true and pure. In this story, the girl left the boy behind and go ahead in life as her parents say. Because she can't fight them.

He says, "Sarita, I will never go to your home town."

Sorry, didi you wanted me to write about you but instead, I wrote about my feelings and state of mind. I wanted to lighten my mind, I wanted to share all this with someone. All this is going so heavy on my chest. I couldn't say it to anyone so I wrote all this here in your diary.

My love, I love you____. Sorry didi, I can't write his name.

When he heard about my engagement, he was happy. He said, "I am happy that my Sarita got such nice future husband and family. My Sarita will always be happy with that boy."

Didi, you are kindhearted. That's why I am telling you all my heart out today. Didi may you stay very happy in your life. Don't overthink about me, I will also be happy as I got a really nice husband. He will love me very much. He is a great guy. But I will never be able to tell him about my first love. I will never make him think that he is not my first love."

And there she kept her passport-sized photograph. "Didi, maybe after some years, you will forget my face and name because I know you can't remember names. So, here I am keeping my photo in this diary. So that you always remember me."

And a river of tears rolled down the cheeks of Arushi as she finished her scrapbook.

It was early morning and girls were getting ready to go to the university. Arushi couldn't control herself and rushed to Sarita's room on the ground floor.

Sarita was sitting on her bed, her roommate, her friend was getting ready. When Arushi went near Sarita, she started crying hugging Arushi. They did not exchange a single word but both cried silently. Her roommate went outside leaving them alone.

Arushi said, "Shhh don't cry. I didn't know you love me so much. You are my little sister. I am always with you. You have my number. Call me whenever you want to. You got your first true love. Not everyone is blessed enough to get it. You are very lucky. Always be happy in your life. We can't live with everyone we love. Just smile for me now."

Saying this, Arushi wipes Sarita's tears. Sarita whispers, "Didi I knew you would come to me right after reading the diary. His name is Rajat."

They hugged again. Arushi said, "Call me when you will leave the hostel. I will come to say goodbye."

Then Arushi came back to her room on the first floor. She sat on her bed for a few minutes. Her classmate came in, "Arushi come'on. What are you doing? Let's go to take a bath or else we will be late for the class."

8 years later, Arushi got to read this diary when she was clearing her old junk. She tried searching Sarita on every social media platform. But she couldn't. And yes Sarita was right, she did forget Sarita's name and face after all these years. But she remembered every single thing after seeing Sarita's little photo on the last page.

She still searches her name sometimes in hope of connecting with Sarita.
